The take-home task is a step in our interview process. Take your time, ask questions, and show your best work.

The assignment

Architect and build a prototype of a private alternative to ChatGPT for mobile and desktop.

Scope

This is a prototype, not a finished product. Show how you would architect a private, local-first chat experience, and build enough of it that someone can try the idea.

• A conversation someone can use on mobile, desktop, or both.
• Privacy by default. Run the model on-device or otherwise local-first, and be explicit about what never leaves the device.
• A small, coherent slice: send a message, get a reply, and keep that history on the device.
• A short note on the architecture: where inference runs, what is stored, and what you intentionally left out.

You choose the stack. A native app, a local web app, or a thin client around a local model are all fine. Ship something we can run.
